I wonder if Windows 8 will go exclusively 64 bit and throw out all the legacy compatibility issues. The fact Windows software is backward compatible into the stone age helped secure their place in the market. Continuing that model after the world was connected by the Internet has been a security mess. It's about time Redmond makes a clean break with the past like Apple does every few years.
