Even after shipping and customs, the Kindle 3 is much cheaper than this device. And this device doesn't even come close to Kindle 3 in terms of features (much better contrast and WiFi connectivity in Kindle 3) . I can only speculate about the build quality because I have never seen the wink in person, but I sure can bet it is not better than the Kindle.
One more very important point to note is that eBooks available at thewinkstore.com is much much costlier than the actual paper books. e.g., the book,"The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest " by Stieg Larsson is available for Rs. 245/- at flipkart.com (they are an online store for actual paper books) while the same has to be bought for Rs. 714/- at the wink store, even though the eBooks are supposed to be cheaper buy 15-20% than the paper copy because of the decreased paper cost.
