I was in Rio years ago, and at that time Brazil was a closed economy (I think they were starting to sell Dells assembled in-country). So, attracting foreign capital should help them catapult to the state of the art. We were lodged at the Intercontinental and, one time when coming back, we took the wrong bus and ended in the Rocinha favela. I could see shops selling clones in these narrow two storied or three storied houses. At the moment, the clones seemed dated, but this was in a slum (favela). In contrast, where the demo was done, Barra de Tijuca, it is one of the most upscales parts of Brazil.
