I've spent the last 5 months wiating for Yahoo to fix my mailbox. I haven't been able to search for any messages before June 1 of 2010. They are there, but the Search Function Can't find them. They kept saying they were "escalating the issue to their engineering team" and "We are still working on resolving your issue. We intend to have it corrected as soon as possible." But nothing has changed.
I finally figured out a solution for me. Download and use the Zimbra Desktop. It can connect to my plain/free Yahoo mailbox via imap. Then I was able to search my Yahoo messages within Zimbra.
Moreover I was able to connect the Zimbra to my Gmail account. I created folders/tags in Gmail that corresponded to my Yahoo folders and moved all my Yahoo mail to Gmail. I'm officially done with Yahoo, Yahoo Search, and Yahoo Mail. Now I'm off to switch my home page from my.yahoo to igoogle. Bye bye and good riddance Yahoo.
