One of the reason for Nokia's success in India is their strong hold on core voice & sms communication. Nokia phones provide best reception in low signal areas compare to any other brands. Smartphones from Apple, HTC, samsung struggle in such environments. Since India is vast territory it is always challenge to get decent reception everywhere you travel.
Whenever I travel to India I leave my smartphone at home and carry Nokia phone; only those phones work best.
