Just another instance of religious Elitism. These Elitists, whose 'religion' includes the faith that the earth is in eminent doom from plastic bottles and CO2, will force their beliefs upon all others with the excuse that no 'intelligent' person could conceivably believe otherwise.
Elitism in all it's forms (Socialism, Communism, dictatorship, etc.) share the basic premise that a few people are 'special'. These people that their views, believes, preferences and opinions are deemed by them as 'Facts' and the only 'correct' perspective on every subject. No other opinions are relevant. If fact, are always suppressed and even persecuted if possible.
All rights and freedoms apply to them only, and should be withheld from all who disagree. In fact, all rules apply to others, and these 'special' people are always exempt from any rules. If you think this is hyperbole, just look around each day. The tell-tale for this comes each time they are caught breaking a rule. You will always hear their hypocrisies in the excuse, "well, THAT'S different...".
Also, do not be at all surprise that you find the persons behind this that benefit financially, just like Al Gore has con'ed his way to feathering his nest for over $100M - another hallmark of Elitism.
