Using Instant automatically takes you to the results page from the homepage and starts displaying ads. However, the ads don't seem to display while you are typing, only when you pause, so I would agree they should be better targeted. Unless you pause to read the suggestions, in which case the ads may be totally irrelevant.
But I still turned Instant off because the screen behavior is obnoxious.
