So, let me get this right. As an Mac user I get razzed by people on this site who claim that I pay an "Apple Tax", and now this article celebrates paying more $$ for non-Apple system that is lacking "...specs-wise..." compared to Mac? Oh boy I'm confused.
And, I don't think Apple cares/can do anything about any hardware maker that simply advertizes compatibility with OS X. The problem is support. If there is a driver problem, or any problem with the OS, Apple won't support you - they don't have to, and the EUL protects them. And the HW maker can't support you efficiently because they don't have access to the OS code and to Apple's database of problem/solutions.
I think it's the simple fact that the HW maker can't properly support their customers that has kept companies like Dell from simply offering an OS X compatible system. Too much of a bag of hurt.
