Marc Benioff like any great sales guys is admirably dodging nitty-gritty reality.
The SalesForce core architecture, an Oracle database-on-a-database scales CRM in cloud, but is a complete generation behind the NoSQL architecture powering Facebook.
SQL-on-SQL or NoSQL does not support transactional capabilities (time stamped and indexed) for accounting, inventory, lot-tracking are not supported.
Conveniently Salesforce provisions transactional ERP using customer or partner apps via The Force.com integrations.
The Salesforce solution ends up a hybrid, same as the SAP solution. And customizations, got duct tape?(Mr Benioff what did Mr Plattner say?!)
The net-net, something new needs inventing or we'll still be running 1990s ERP with Cloud Apps in 2020 - but with cat balls of duct tapping.
