My "guess" is that the Verizon iphone 5 will be 4G / LTE only, and they will continue to sell the iphone 4 at $100 less, for those cities that are only 3G.
If I knew I could buy the iphone 4 now, and then get the iphone 5 for only a $100 penalty and new start of 2yr contract, I would buy now. Without knowing that, I will probably wait.
