Statistics show that roughly 80% of people with Asperger's Syndrome are unable to sustain full time employment or are employed full time.

This is mainly due to our inablity to function socially.

People like people who are social and that is often valued higher than ability, competence and work ethic, especially in the workplace.

I am a 43 year old female with AS. I work as an analyst for a federal agency. I am outstanding when it comes to my work.

Socially, I am not good at all. I don't understand people. They are illogical and irrational. They say one thing and mean something completely different. They ask a question then freak out when you give an honest answer.

It is like I have been dropped into a foreign country and I do not know the language or culture.

It has been a struggle here. I feel like an alien most days.

But I have a very good husband who accepts me just as I am. It helps SO MUCH to have a support system. He is my only friend.
