Telecom New Zealand has announced that former Vodafone New Zealand executive Tim Miles will step up and take on the role of CEO of the company's IT services business unit Gen-i.

Miles, who has worked with IBM, Unisys, Vodafone, and more recently, agricultural services group PGG Wrightson, will start at Gen-i on February 4, 2013.

He replaces former CEO Chris Quin (who became the CEO of Telecom Retail in October this year), following the appointment of new Telecom NZ CEO Simon Moutter in April.

Moutter said that he was pleased to have Miles back in the IT sector.

"Gen-i is already one of New Zealand's foremost ICT providers, and under Tim's leadership, we intend to continue to build on our already strong base," he said in a statement.
