in brief Telstra International has deployed a 40-gigabit per second (Gbps) Infinera DTN digital switching technology for its Reach subsea network in Asia.
The network covers over 9000km across Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea. The Infinera technology will allow Telstra to scale up its network and upgrade to 100Gbps in the future. This would allow Telstra to deliver 7.3 terabits per second of capacity over Telstra's North Asia Loop fibre plant.
"Telstra operates one of the largest and most diverse networks in Asia Pacific. We chose Infinera because it has demonstrated leadership in technological innovation, offering the most reliable and technically advanced DWDM system on the market," Telstra International's chief operating officer Martijn Blanken said in a statement.
Infinera said that following the sale, Telstra International had become the company's 100th customer since 2004.
