  • Kindle

    Name: Kindle

    Developer: Amazon

    Price: Free

Compatibility: iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later.

We all need an app to access and read our e-books, and Amazon's Kindle is a decent choice. The free app can load, organize and store Kindle books, magazines, textbooks and .pdf files on your mobile device for the spare 5 minutes you might have on the commute to work.

If you need extra reading material, you can buy additional books from Amazon's Kindle store.

  • Notability

    Name: Notability

    Developer: Ginger Labs

    Price: $2.99

Compatibility: iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later.

There will always be things you need to prepare in time for lessons, and so rather than scribble down the 'must remember' tasks on scraps of easily-lost paper, the Notability app can store data in one place for you. You can jot down text, annotate documents, sketch ideas, sign contracts and create quick presentations.

Notability now includes iCloud support to update your notes across all of your devices.
