    This app grants you access iTunes U, a platform where courses from universities and other schools are hosted as well as a large collection of free educational content and lesson plans. Suitable for students to study and teachers to find supplementary material, iTunes U is also a way to find and take free courses offered by academic institutions. 

    There are currently over 600,000 lectures, videos, books and documents available on thousands of subjects.

    Edmodo is an app developed in response to the rising use of Internet resources and communication tools to build bridges between students and teachers. Touted as a secure social network for education, the app can be used for classroom discussions, posting assignments, grade tracking, file sharing and uploading, and includes features such as a news feed and resource library.

    Edmodo has over 20 million users, according to the developer.
