An Internet delivery platform from BackWeb Technologies, Inc., San Jose, CA (www.backweb.com). The BackWeb Polite Sync Server pushes content to users such as news, stock quotes and virus and software upgrades. It is also the core component of the BackWeb Offline Access Server, which allows users to work with Web-based applications when they are not connected to the Internet. Using a browser plug-in on a Windows PC, the Offline Access Server emulates the Web application for mobile users when offline and synchronizes the data when the user comes back online.
