Definition: Bing
A search engine from Microsoft that in addition to listing all the links that match the query, it provides additional data in logical categories that it deems pertinent. At the right side of each link is a button that, when clicked, displays the first paragraph of text on the page along with links on that page that might be of interest to the user.
Introduced in June 2009 and called a "decision engine" by the company, Bing was developed to deliver more focused results for travel, health and shopping, as well as for finding restaurants and other local services. For more information, visit www.bing.com.
Bing and Yahoo!
In July 2009, after 18 months of negotiation and speculation between Microsoft and Yahoo!, Bing became the engine to power Yahoo's search site, and Yahoo! began handling the ads for both the Bing and Yahoo! sites.
