The instant messaging capability between BlackBerry phones that allows pictures and other files to be sent as well as text. To "BBM someone" is to send a message from a BlackBerry to a recipient with a BlackBerry. BlackBerry Messenger 5 (BBM 5) added a QR code reader to quickly read another person's contact information as well as any QR mobile tag. See BlackBerry and mobile tagging.
