Definition: BumpTop
A 3D desktop for Windows developed by Anand Agarawala at the University of Toronto. It allows objects to be pinned to back and side walls, and file and folder icons can be resized and grouped into stacks. Released in April 2009, BumpTop was initially designed for stylus interaction and soon after for Windows 7 multitouch screens. Available in both free and paid versions; after Google acquired it in April 2010, the software was no longer offered on the Bump Technologies site.
A BumpTop
Sticky notes, shortcuts and images can be pinned to BumpTop walls, and icons can be grouped by date, by most often used and other criteria. All icons can be resized.
