Definition: Carrier IQ
Diagnostic software for cellphones and smartphones from Carrier IQ, Mountain View, CA (www.carrieriq.com). Installed in millions of devices, the IQ Agent reports on call failure, crashes, battery consumption and the like and transmits to the carrier typically each day. As necessary, a new profile can be sent to the device to change the diagnostics. It defines the metrics required, upload frequency, any preprocessing to summarize data before sending and whether the serial number is included.
