Definition: Chrome
(1) See Google Chrome and Google Chrome OS.
(2) (chrome) The design of scroll bars, window borders and other user interface elements on screen. The term harks back to the chrome strips on cars, which in past decades were standard equipment for enhancing the vehicle's appearance. For example, "standard Windows chrome" refers to the regular user interface in Windows rather than a different appearance via a third-party enhancement. See browser chrome and skin.
