Definition: Eye-Fi
A wireless SD Card from Eye-Fi, Inc., Mountain View, CA (www.eye.fi). Eye-Fi adds Wi-Fi capability to a regular SD memory card and automatically transmits images from the card still inside the camera to the user's computer when in range of a selected Wi-Fi network. To configure the Eye-Fi card, a small reader that holds the card plugs into a USB port, and the desired folders and networks are selected on the computer and recorded on the card. Images may be stored in the computer and/or sent over the Internet to an Eye-Fi photo sharing site. See SD Card and Wi-Fi.
The Eye-Fi Card
When the Eye-Fi card is within range of a selected Wi-Fi hotspot, the latest images are sent to the user's computer or the Internet. (Image courtesy of Eye-Fi, Inc., www.eye.fi)
