Definition: Firefly

A software-based media server for Windows, Mac and Linux that shares iTunes, M3U and PLS playlists to DAAP clients across the network. Noted for the variety of formats it supports, Firefly handles MP3, AAC, WMA, Ogg-Vorbis, FLAC and Apple Lossless audio files. Formerly called mt-daapd (multithreaded-DAAP daemon), Firefly uses Bonjour to announce itself over the network. See DAAP, Bonjour and playlist.
