Google's instant messaging (IM) service, which provides text messaging and voice calling. It provides a link to the user's Gmail account as well as displays the number of unread messages in the inbox. Google Talk is available as a stand-alone program and also as a component of the Google Apps package (see Google Apps). Google Talk is based on the XMPP/Jabber protocol (see Jabber).
