Definition: Google TV
Internet TV capability from Google. It is the first fully integrated Web and TV platform that is expected to have a major impact in the Internet TV market. Based on the Android operating system, the Chrome Web browser and an Intel chipset, Google TV lets users surf the Web and download and run Android apps full screen or in a picture-in-picture window while watching TV. Viewers can even use their Android phones as remote controls.
Introduced at the 2010 Google I/O conference, DISH Network announced Google TV support in upcoming receivers, and Sony announced new Google TV television sets and Blu-ray players. Logitech also announced a Google TV set-top box. See Internet TV.
