Microsoft's smartphone comeback story rests with the success of Windows Phone 7. The mobile operating system is a clean break from its predecessor, Windows Mobile, and aims to bring services from the Zune and Xbox together. Microsoft's aim with Windows Phone 7 was to break with conventional interfaces. Time will tell if the bet pays off.
