Definition: Nehalem
The first microarchitecture used in Intel's Core i family of CPU chips, starting with the Core i7 in 2008. Major features of Nehalem chips (named after a town in Oregon) are integrated memory and PCI Express controllers and a graphics processing unit (GPU) in the same chip package as the CPU. Nehalem began at 45 nm with subsequent dies manufactured with 32 nm features. Nehalem was superseded in 2011 by Sandy Bridge. See Core i7, Intel Core and Sandy Bridge.
