(1) (Web OS) An operating system designed for Web use only. See Google Chrome OS.
(2) A Linux-based operating system for Palm smartphones. Introduced with the Palm Pre in 2009, and later the Pixi, webOS features touch screen operation with integration of social media and support for Web technologies such as JavaScript, CSS and HTML5. After HP's acquisition of Palm in 2010, webOS made its way into a subsequent line of tablet PCs. See HP TouchPad and Palm.
