Definition: XAML
(eXtensible Application Markup Language) An XML-based set of tags used to describe objects and events when programming applications in Windows, starting with Vista. Introduced in the .NET Framework 3.0 programming interface (API), XAML is used extensively to define elements in Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), the Windows user interface. It is also used in Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF) for defining workflow structures.
The "A" in XAML originally stood for "Avalon," the former name of Windows Presentation Foundation. See .NET Framework, XML Paper Specification and Windows Presentation Foundation.
