  • Time zone selector
This is one of the better time zone selectors we've seen in any operating system install. Click near your location and it shows you the time at that place, as well as automatically selecting the region and zone beneath the map.

  • Partitioning
Using a slider to determine partition size may not be the most precise way of determining a partition's size, but it is quick and easy if you are not terribly fussy.

  • 3G USB Support

Unfortunately I had to fall back from Karmic Beta to Jaunty because of a bug that fixed access to the mass storage device in USB 3G dongles but dropped access to the serial device (modem). Hope they get it fixed in time for release
  • Swap space at end of disk?

If installing to SSDs, swap space location is immaterial.

However, on a HDD, the further the swap space is from the apps, the more time penalty it imposes, considering that when it is used, it imposes delays anyway.

If a whole large partition is being used, it would be better to have swap near the start. If two, in the middle.
