IBM has bolstered its storage portfolio again with the purchase of Butterfly Software, a data analysis and migration software firm based in Maidenhead.
The deal was announced on Monday, but without financial terms being disclosed. Butterfly is to be folded into IBM's software group and will help Big Blue get more value out of its storage hardware and software products, IBM said.
Butterfly produces software and tools for planning storage systems, as well as for migrating backups between different formats.
IBM has been working hard on its storage strategy recently — just last month, it boosted the hardware side by picking up Texas Memory Systems, a vendor of solid-state storage.
