The new version of Asus Nexus 7 tablet will be available in the UK this month, priced from £199.

The device, which became available to order in the US in July, will be available on 28 August in several varieties through the Google Play store and online and high street retailers.

The 7-inch tablet has a 1920 x 1200 resolution screen with an 178-degree viewing angle, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB of RAM, wireless charging and dual-band wi-fi. It will be one of the first tablets to ship with Android 4.3, Jelly Bean, and includes Google Apps such as Chrome, Maps, YouTube, Hangouts and Google Now.

The screen is made from scratch-resistant Corning Glass and the device is 8.65mm thick and weighs 290g.

The device will be available with 16GB storage for £199 and with 32GB for £239 on 28 August. A Nexus 7 with LTE connectivity and 32GB storage will be available for £299 some weeks after the wifi-only device.

A head-to-head comparison of the specs of the new Nexus 7 vs the Apple iPad mini shows the Nexus has a higher screen resolution and faster processor.
