Sixty-one percent of CIOs plan to enhance their mobile capability during the next three years, according to a Gartner survey. Forty-eight percent believe they will become leaders in their industries by fully adopting innovative mobility solutions.

So, everyone’s doing it.

Now, I’m not one to recommend that everyone just follow the trends, but I do think that mobile is one of these ‘evolve or get left behind’ things. Since I work in the industry, you could say that I’m slightly biased, but I don’t think I’m the only one saying that not having a mobile strategy today is like not having an Internet strategy in the late ‘90s.

Mobile has the potential to transform your enterprise, even more so than the Web did. We all know that giving employees access to company data and email when they’re on the go boosts productivity. Beyond that, mobile can improve internal processes, help sales teams close faster, speed decision-making and improve customer service. It can help you connect directly with customers, learn about what they like, and market to them more effectively for less money.

To help you understand the opportunities (and risks), IDG and SAP have created an informative, three-part Mobile Playbook series filled with data, insights, best practices, resources, and a checklist for developing a winning mobile strategy. I’ll be talking about each of the playbooks in turn over the next couple of weeks.

If you don’t want to wait to hear more about each one, you can go ahead and download the entire series for free, right here.
