As a Google Apps reseller, the company assists organisations in migrating to cloud-based Google Apps, such as Gmail, from legacy systems. It is the second acquisition that the company has made in the region, last month acquiring New Zealand-based reseller WaveAdept.

The company said that the expansion was a "no-brainer" for the company, due to the fact that many of its clients have a presence in Asia.

"Companies in the Asia-Pacific market are embracing the cloud," said Cloud Sherpas CEO Jon Hallett. "Our acquisition of Devnet, an early Google partner, ensures that our local team will be well equipped to serve the increasing demand from both enterprises and local businesses looking for an experienced Google Apps partner in the region."

Operations for the region will be headed from its Sydney offices.

"Sydney gives us a launch pad to all of Asia," said Eran Gil, a co-founder of Cloud Sherpas and acting general manager for the region, who said that the company would expect to expand to Singapore, India, Japan and other Asian markets over time.

The company already has additional Asia-Pacific offices in Melbourne, Brisbane and Wellington.
