Victorinox, the makers of the Original Swiss Army knife, introduced an encrypted memory stick with both biometric and password protection on Thursday. The Presentation Master shown here can be set to self-destruct if an invalid password and fingerprint are given during authentication, according to the company.
The self-destruct functionality takes advantage the low voltage that powers the USB stick. The memory stick runs on 1.5V, powered from the USB port on the user's computer, which supplies 5V. Should the stick receive an invalid authentication attempt, it can open itself to the full 5V coming from the CPU to burn itself out.
