Werner Vogels: There is four different areas where most of the advantages of cloud computing lay. First of all there is the ability to lower cost. First, because you can eliminate capital investments, and the secondly, because you can reduce operational cost. Because remember, we are not using the resources, you are not paying for them. The second area is increase agility. And mainly that is about reducing time to market. Suddenly access to resources no longer is a constraint. And it also triggers a very different way of thinking about how to build products, businesses, because suddenly access to ten servers or hundred servers, fifteen petabyte of storage no longer is a restriction for you to stop building your business. It allows you to remove most of the heavy lifting, no longer focused on the things that everybody else has to do. And especially if you ever own an online business, then you have to be worried as priority number one about security. Being able to use many of these components out of the cloud computing world will allow you to create a more secure business than what you could do on your own. And also it allows you to really think about the properties of cloud computing to build architectures that can be the scale, that can be secure, that can be elastic and things like that.
