>> Steve Jobs: An amazing product. Tremendous breath. What should we price it at? Well, if you listen to the pundits, we're going to price it, under a thousand dollars which is code for nine ninety nine. When we set out to develop the Ipad, we not only had very ambitious technical goals and user interface goals, but we had a very aggressive price goal, because we want to put this in the hands of lots of people. And, just like we were able to meet or exceed our technical goals, we have met our cost goals, and I'm thrilled to announce to you that the Ipad pricing starts, not at nine ninety nine, but at just

Applause Four hundred and ninety nine dollars.

Applause At four hundred and ninety nine dollars, a lot of people can afford an Ipad. So, four hundred and ninety nine dollars for 16 gigabytes, Ipad, that's our base model, 16 gigabytes with WiFi built in. For 32 gigabytes, it's a hundred dollars more and for another hundred dollars beyond that is a 64 gigabytes of storage. The 3G models cost an extra hundred and thirty dollars to build in the radios and so, six twenty nine, seven twenty nine, and eight twenty nine, and these will be the six models of Ipads we have starting at four ninety nine with the most expensive model with 64 gigabytes and 3G, just eight twenty nine. We think it's an unbelievable price offer. So four ninety nine well when can you get your hands on one of these, we will be shipping Ipads in sixty days, world wide availability of the WiFi models. It'll take us probably another thirty days beyond that to get the 3G models through the approval process with the carriers and so within about ninety days, we'll be shipping the 3G models. So soon, you'll be able to get an Ipad in your hands, starting at just four ninety nine.

  • iPad lack of USB port, something to correct
What if I have my own .chm or .pdf books? What if I want to do a fast back up of my current content?
I feel that iPad should have a USB port and the posibility of a ePen. If I want to write something by hand, wonderful chance to use an ePen over a TabletPC or iPad.
I hope to see improvements for iPad 2. Meanwhile I will buy a TabletPC from Lenovo or other.
