Speaker: Can you talk about some of the other genres of app categories that you may have -- you may be speaking to people or that are officially announced in terms of -- for example, we know that -- or I believe we know that -- I assume that the office component is going to be moved from Windows Mobile, so we'll have Word and Excel, PowerPoint, and I think even a SharePoint component, as well as OneNote. Can you speak to some other thing that Microsoft is releasing that's sort of a non-game story in terms of apps for Windows Phone 7, and some of the 3rd party developers that have already announced their support in that area?
>>
Speaker: So it's interesting that you bring up games because that's actually one of the other really exciting things about the platform is that people that have existing games for the Xbox, it's really easy for them port their game over to our phone. One of the developers I've been working with actually wrote his Windows -- or his iPhone application, his game, with out tools, and it took him about two days to get it on our platform, which is why you're going to be seeing a lot of really high quality, brand name games on our platform because it's a piece of cake to get them moved over. As far as other types of applications, yes, we do have Office. It's on my phone now. I mean, it's pre-installed, and you get all the same types of experiences that you'd expect. You know, if I can get sent an Excel file as an attachment, I can open it up on my phone and view it, and it renders correctly, and it looks great. As far as other types of applications, one of the interesting things about the phone is that we're allowing people to move away from the idea of an app, like a single-purpose application and make what we're calling a "hub," where you can bring a bunch of different types of information together, and using our metro UI interface, it's very easy to bring a bunch of different types of information together. So we have a couple of hubs on the phone right now. One of them is the people hub, which brings all of your Facebook information together with all of your contact lists. So it's not a Facebook app. It's not a contact list app. It's a really interesting blend of those two, something that I'm actually very happy with.
>>
Speaker: Yeah, in fact, I was able to play with the hub on the front of the -- the first thing you see on the phone, basically, and its' a bunch of little rectangles that you can control, which is sort of interesting. So, you know, the iPhone has basically icons for your apps. Android has several virtual screens that you can put apps and folders and widgets on, which I think is superior to the iPhone, personally. I really like those widgets. And the Windows Phone 7 takes yet a third way of doing things, and the have these rectangles of content that you're interested in. So for example, Joel assumed spelling mentioned the Facebook information can be posted there right on top if that's what you want. I think you can rearrange the rectangles so that it's in the order that you find that's most interesting and important to you. You know, who called you last, Facebook information --
>>
Speaker: Yeah, it's actually -- it's -- they're called "tiles," and it's a really interesting -- I hadn't thought of it in terms of widgets, but they're sort of a blend between icons and widgets. And that, as a developer, you're able to send information, updates to your icon. So you can think of -- imagine on your iPhone having the icons changing and showing you new information as appropriate. So let's say that you're playing a Scrabble game with your friends. You could see, you know, it's your turn, and here is the word that you're friend played, or here's the score that they got on their last turn. Or you can see whether updates. You can see, you know, if you have a weather program, you can update with the little sun or cloud, depending on what the stuff is. And so on our platform, you know, developers are going to be able to give some really rich experiences that are pretty exciting.
