Host: It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Apple's products. So when the buzz about something new from Apple starts hitting the blogosphere, I get just as excited as the next guy. Well, lately, it seems like the rumor mill and the deep secrecy at Apple that launches those rumors is getting a bit out of hand. It's come down to the point where someone has even taken his own life because of it. Last money, a worker at a Chinese factor that manufactures iPhones committed suicide after he realized that one of the 16 iPhone prototypes that he was responsible for had gone missing. Surely, it was only a matter of time before details of this device reached the Internet. Of course, that's an extreme case, but it goes to show the lengths that some people will go to in order to get an inside scoop. These days, all the talk is about two things. An Apple news announcement next month, and the introduction of a new tablet PC. I have no doubt that a news announcement is coming. For the past few years, Apple has made music-related announcements in September, a jumpstart on the holiday shopping season. So those rumors don't surprise me. But then there's this talk about a tablet PC. Look folks. I have no doubt that Apple has something big up its sleeve, and all signs seem to point to an iPhone-like tablet PC. Of course, the company isn't saying anything about it. So all those reports out there are unconfirmed. And to be fair, we at ZDNet have written about many of those rumors. Largely those that have been reported by credible news outlets that appear to have inside sources. But what I've grown tired of are the random blog posts that offer little more than speculation based on just a tidbit of information. You know, something like details from a prototype that went missing from a Chinese factory.
