New robot replaces remote control

April 27, 2009, 4:01pm PDT | Length: 00:00:00
CNET News gets a look at QB1, a new bot that replaces the remote control when you listen to music and could eventually be used as a substitute for a keyboard and mouse. It recognizes the person it's interacting with and reacts to simple human gestures.

but in any case, when and if I had demoed them, I would have made an effort to play more than ONE FU*KING song!

This shi* is pointless if it's complicated to change the song, THAT'S where we need good interactivity.

Also, I can see a whole bunch of your friends walking in and start waving their hands at the same time.

    Yep, wonderful idea..

Conspicuously missing from the demo is any example of "while you are talking to your friends" -- and of course gesturing to them, the demonstrator could not speak without moving his hands -- "and doing other things".
This will be useful when/if the machine knows it is being addressed, without the user saying "sudo" or "Simon says". If they had solved that, they would be showing it.
