Windows 8 is coming this year, Windows 8 Consumer Preview will be out later this month, and the burning question is: does anybody care? ZDNet editor and long-time Linux proponent Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols claims Windows 8 will be DOA. Meanwhile, ZDNet Government and DIY-IT editor David Gewirtz (who claims all operating systems annoy him to one degree or another), claims Windows 8 is here to stay, that it matters for "real work," and so will Windows 9.

    I will certainly read about it but I won't try it unless it is just super fast and runs some old stuff that I have to run on an XP puter.
    My Win7 and my WinXP puters are doing fine for what I have to do with them.
