Virgin Media's wi-fi on the Tube arrives at 150 stations
Virgin Media now has 150 underground stations connected to its wi-fi network allowing commuters to browse as they travel. The latest six stations added are Wimbledon, Richmond, Morden, Upminster, Barking and East Ham.
The 150 stations that are now connected to its wi-fi network can be used free if charge by Virgin Mobile and Media customers of course, along with those of EE (Orange and T-Mobile), O2, Three and Vodafone. Customers not on those networks can buy a pay-as-you-go wi-fi pass, starting at £2 a day and rising to £15 for two months' access as a special offer.
In a statement, Joe Lathan, director of broadband at Virgin Media, said: "This is a milestone moment for Virgin Media with 150 Tube stations and more than two and a half million devices now connected to wi-fi on London Underground."
According to Virgin Media, over 2.5 million devices are now registered and more than 3TB of data consumed over the network every day. The most active spot across the service is the Waterloo & City Line platform at Waterloo station. Kings Cross and Oxford Circus are the overall busiest stations.
