Many fast-growing services companies have a tough time keeping things organized between tracking the time employees and contractors spend on different projects, keeping connected with customers, and ensuring the right data is used for invoicing and other financial processes. All of those tasks, and more, are covered by a professional services automation system built by developer Vorex.

The company's cloud-delivered solution, called Vorex PSA, consists of three main modules: the Vorex Project component for tracking the time that people spend on each main responsibiity or with each client; the Vorex BackOffice system for forecasting costs and profitability associated with jobs; and Vorex 360 for predicting resource needs, managing contract terms and improving customer relationships.

"Vorex is a simple solution, not as complex as what we previously used, but it does the job," said Sally Kindsfater, director of administration and marketing for Total Stream Systems, a nine-person technology services firm that develops software for oil and gas companies. In particular, Vorex enables her company to reassign service tickets and tasks and "throw them back and forth between contractors and employees that are on a project," she said.

The Vorex software integrates natively with the QuickBooks and Peachtree accounting systems, so that data can be managed in one database.

"The core concept is to help small companies across multiple verticals to automate their systems with one unified and integrated solution," said Mike Salem, CEO of Vorex, which is headquarted in Plano, Texas.

Currently, many of Vorex's existing customers come from professional services, architecture, health care, and construction.

Pricing starts at $15 per user per month for just the project management component; $20 per user per month if the back office component is added; and $25 per user per month for the 360 view, Salem said. There's a 14-day free trial period.
