The Shire of Esperance in Western Australia has migrated its IT applications to the cloud through managed services provider Civica.
The shire's IT applications are being delivered out of Civica's infrastructure assets housed within the Equinix datacentre in Sydney. Civica is hosting all of the shire's strategic applications, including Civica Authority Enterprise Suite, an offering designed for local councils to easily share and update data between users in real time.
Other applications that Civica is hosting are Microsoft Office and Exchange, Symantec Enterprise Vault, and HP TRIM. Over 180 staff members will be actively using the cloud applications. Migration to the cloud was completed over one weekend, with no downtime.
"This is a major step forward in our ability to better service the community while the Civica team were also very responsive to our requirements, which helped result in a smooth migration," Shire of Esperance IT manager Sean Kenny said in a statement.
The managed services provider is also managing the shire's 44 printers and 3.5TB of storage.
Civica's cloud platform housed in Equinix is based on Citrix and FlexPod infrastructure.
