After an absence of six months, Web Wednesday is back in Thailand with the next event scheduled for Jun. 8 at its regular venue, Route 66.

The meetup, which will be the 8th event since the club for digital, tech and Web enthusiasts in Bangkok started, is focused on mobile apps and mobile marketing featuring guests from Google, True Corp and Web Business.

From the official Facebook event page:

Join us on Wed. June 8th at Route66 as we explore "Unleashing the Power of Mobile Apps and Mobile Marketing in Thailand". The event begins at 7pm. Be sure to bring a stack of namecards ready to network with the movers and shakers in the digital marketing industry in Thailand.

I am pleased to announce the following industry experts that will be sharing with us on mobile opportunities:

1) K. Ariya Banomyong, Chief Commercial Officer, True Corp 2) K. Monsinee Nakapanant, General Manager (Web Business) 3) K. Pornthip Kongchun, Head of Marketing Thailand, Google Southeast Asia

See you on Wed the 8th!

It has been a long time coming since the last event and, knowing how much goes into planning and arranging the event, it is great to see that Web Wednesday Thailand is back for digital enthusiasts here.

I'll be doing my very best to be there, particularly given interesting recent findings on mobile that emerged from the Truehits 2010 awards. For example, Apple devices are--according to the research--responsible for half of all mobile Internet sessions in Thailand, with more than 200,000 iPhone internet sessions taking place everyday.

Added to that the popularity of BlackBerry and the vast array of apps that are used by Thais each day, from BBM to WhatsApp and games, it is clear that apps are an crucial part of the mobile experience in the country today.

I'm looking forward to the meetup.
