  • Tablets are hot property at the moment, as hardware manufacturers vie to produce a challenger to Apple's iPad, which has captured mindshare if not sold in quite the numbers analysts were expecting.

    Samsung's 7in. Galaxy Tab, which runs Android 2.2, appears to be the main challenger, with sales heading towards the million mark since its launch at the beginning of November.

    But what of Windows 7, which Microsoft claims is more tablet-friendly than ever (at least when used with a stylus)? Several Windows 7 slate-style tablets are on the market now, and these are detailed here. Quite a few more are expected early next year, including Acer's 10in. offering pictured above.
