With more than 48 million users worldwide, Wix is one of the most popular Web development platforms for small and midsize businesses but the technology continues to mature as a broad resource for running additional aspects of their business.
That evolution is reflected in one of the company's latest updates: It has released an application programming interface, WixHive API, that makes it much simpler for small companies to integrate information that is collected about Web site visitors with other applications from their Wix App Market dashboard.
Examples of what's there include familiar resources such as Constant Contact or MailChimp as well as oodles of other tools ranging from booking services to coupon management systems.
"Through the WixHive API, we are extending our offering even further by creating an environment where they can generate business processes using independent apps and data collected from their Web sites," said Avishai Abrahimi, co-founder and CEO of Wix, in a statement.
Also last week, Wix introduced something called Mobile Sonic. The technology is specifically intended for the roughly 2.8 million individuals and businesses that are using Wix to create and manage mobile Web sites. The intention is to speed up how fast the sites load, without interfering with the desktop version.
