Taking a taxi is so passe when you have Uber — or so Uber users like to tell you, even when you don't ask.

Uber has expanded its services to Sydney, allowing users in the harbour city to request a private car, and have the cost automatically charged to their credit card.

If you'd like to take part in Uber's Sydney trial, you can find more details on the company's blog.

    Firefox Marketplace

    Platform: Android

    Price: Free

Hot on the heals of last week's Firefox 16 release, Mozilla has annouced the opening of the Firefox Marketplace. All of the apps in the new app store will be built using HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS.

To see the Firefox Marketplace, you will need to install Firefox Aurora on your Android device.

One of the first apps available is from Twitter, and offers much the same experience as the regular Android Twitter app. As Firefox Marketplace applications can install launchers, having both the regular Twitter client and Firefox Marketplace version installed will result in two identical Twitter icons on your Android home screen.
