ZDNet UK and TNMOC volunteers
Huge thanks go to Operations Manager Lin Jones — pictured fourth from the right — and her TNMOC team, who coped admirably with the influx of journalists demanding connectivity, coffee and other editorial essentials.
Opened in 2008, TNMOC is located in Bletchley Park's Block H, which was built in 1944 to house the legendary Colossus computer, now rebuilt and rehoused in its original home. The museum has far more to offer than we can show in this brief report — we highly recommend you visit and discover it for yourself.
Our first temporary office was in a room containing 15 BBC Micros, among other goodies. These iconic educational computers were created by Acorn in the early 1980s, and are credited with introducing a generation to the joys of programming — something that today's Raspberry Pi is attempting to revive.
