  • Is there a new site

Where authors don't get cheap hits on bash MSFT articles? Now that would be a revolutionary change to the site!

  • I missed a page like...

    http://www.zdnet.com/news/

where I can see all latest news [in reverse chronological order] at one place, now looks like will be too difficult to go through the zdnet, especially if i come back after couple of days.

    can we have it back!

    • Agreed...

Agreed - I found the new method of 'more', 'more', 'more' continuously expanding the screen is far less useful/friendly.

I like having global content, but it would be nice to have something more like CNN where there is a truly International edition that aggregates the content from the other sites. It is pretty cumbersome to have to switch to each location's page to see that content.

      • @techwatcher

Note that all the content is on all the sites. The biggest difference between them is the emphasis and features will be locally focused. It is one global river. Re News page duly noted going forward. We found over time that the news page and home page were basically the same.

        • Where please?

Is there a url for the old column of news (on the right) or is there some series of clicks? I've spent some time and can't find it
          Thanks

  • Bad move

The changes make it more difficult to find a wide number of articles of interest. Why would you take an excellent series of pages and turn them into a hunt and seek disaster?

Change for the purpose of changing is for grocery selves, not Zdnet.

  • Brand new site, same old photo gallery . . .

Brand new site, same old photo gallery . . .

Like the fact that it works great on my iPhone. Not that it was terrible before, though.

Dunno what's up with the international stuff, doesn't seem to make a difference.

But the photo gallery is still the same? Seriously?

Every time you come up with a new site, you seem to fix everything except the biggest problems.

  • Looks interesting.

Guessing it is a work in progress....
Look forward to how it will turn out....
I have to say though, I too prefer seeing all the news/blogs etc in both chronological and topic/blog... not as easy to navigate and see all at once......

Also I am having trouble getting to the second or more pages of the comments..
    for Example
    http://www.zdnet.com/comments/7000000040/page/2/
returns a page with a line
{"status":"success","pageElements":{"comments":{"html":"\n\tTalkback\n\t\n\t\t29 comments\n\t\t\t\t\tAdd your opinion\n\t\t\t\n\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \r\n\t \r\n\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\tThe "Show All" button and the "Edit" button \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tAlong with the font tags for bold and quoting.\r\n\r\nOtherwise, it's a step in the right direction.\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\tCaviarBlack\r\n\t\t\t 2 July, 2012 16:47\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Reply \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t 1 Vote\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t 1 Flag\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\r\n\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\tagree \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThere needs to be a link to show all comments on a single page rather than needing to page through them. I really don't want to have to choose all of the bloggers by topic to see what they are saying. \r\n\r\nMy typical use case has been to go right to the blogs section, scanning through everyone's posts. Opinionated or not, they were very good at linking back to the primary stories behind their posts. I rarely had to navigate elsewhere.\r\n\r\nWhile I've only been nosing around for a few minutes, so far it seems that I would need to do a LOT of additional navigation to replicate the information retrieval that I desire. • So 2005

In a world with jQuery, why do you still refresh the page when you're looking at an image gallery?

Eh, at least the page scales well for mobile devices.

Thanks Lary, I like the new global page, I know with time all the bugs, will be tweaked!
